Isokinetic contraction is when the muscle shortens and extends at a constant velocity.

With a isokinetic contraction we get a maximal power during the entire movement and we measure the power at a constant velocity.

This method may be used to evaluate athlete muscolar fitness, to improve performances and as a great rehabilitation method.

In particular, when we want to compare one athlete to control groups, isokinetic methods offers a very accurate standard.

Isokinetic may help in training strategies too and is very helpful as a new strenghening process more efficient than the isotonic and isometric ones.

In rehabilitation field we get many advantages respect to traditional therapy: in a few words, a faster and better recovery.

Also, in legal medicine field we have a new possibility, thanks to special tests able to work with single muscles we may evaluate after-effects with great precision.
